I don't belive this has been posted yet, and if it has, well...then I guess it's just some more publicity for the kids and that never hurt anyone right? The WHCA (Wisconsin Hockey Coaches Association) has selected 8 players as finalists for this years American Family Insurance/WHCA Player of the year award.
Pat Dalbec, Superior
Sam Frank, KM/Mukwonago
Brandon Gwidt, Lakeland
Andrew Martin, Stoughton
Ross Mauermann, Janesville
Cody Strang, Madison Edgewood
Jordan Tredinnick, Onalaska
Tommy Westmark, Appleton United
Cody Strang is the only player on the list committed to a college and that is your University of Wisconsin Badgers. I'd have to say that he is a STRONG favorite for this seasons award. Other players have also had great seasons but Strang top to bottom is probably the best player. Obviously there are other factors that get involved here, and I do not personally know how Strang is in school, but I'm assuming its well enough to win the award.
The winner will be announced at a banquet in Madison during the state tournament week.
Past winners include:
2008-Jefferson Dahl (Eau Claire Memorial)
2007-Travis Erstad (Stevens Point)
2006-Derrick LaPoint (Eau Claire North)

2004-Dan Swanson (Menomonie)
2003-Davis Drewiske (Hudson)
