08/09 Recap: Mallory was another cog on the very solid 2nd line w/ Meghan Duggan and Carolyne Prevost last season. She was also part of a strong PP that was dominant at times. She contributed to Canada’s U22 team’s silver medal at 2009 MLP Cup.

09/10 Thoughts: W/ losses to graduation and the Olympics, Mallory should have a chance to step up big time this season. She will be a key part to the offense and should see her numbers increase. Players like Mallory, Jasmine Giles and Kyla Sanders having great seasons will go a long way to bridging the gap of Olympic losses. A great season by Mallory should in turn spell good things come the post season as the Badgers strive for #4 in a “down” year.

Deluce, Prévost win championship at Prospects Super Series

I'm a little late on this, as the Prospects Super Series took place June 5-7, but honestly until today I had no idea what this event was, and it wasn't posted on the uscho fan forum until a few days ago. (Thanks to those who posted on the uscho thread.)

The Prospects site isn't the most the straightfoward site for those who aren't familiar with the Prospects events, but from what I can tell there were two tournaments -- the Showcase Camp and the Super Series -- with the former being younger players and the latter being older players from DI, DIII, CIS, CWHL, etc. If I can count (and sometimes I can't), 9 teams competed in the Super Series.

Badgers Mallory Deluce and Carolyne Prévost played for the Summer Storm. The Prospects site doesn't have scores for the round-robin play (schedule only as far as I can tell), but the Summer Storm defeated Total1 6-0 in the quarterfinals, defeated the Blue Streak 12-0 in the semifinals, and defeated the Slashers 3-2 in the championship game.

Here are the rosters for the 2 teams in the championship game. As you can see, the Summer Storm was almost entirely comprised of DI players, whereas the Slashers was comprised of more players from DIII and other leagues.

Silver for Deluce, Haverstock

Mallory Deluce, Brittany Haverstock, and Team Canada will be taking home silver medals from the MLP Cup in Ravensburg, Germany. Congratulations Mallory and Brittany!

Canada was defeated by Sweden 2-1 yesterday in the championship game. Canada had previously defeated Germany 3-0, Russia 11-0, and Finland 3-0. They had also previously defeated Switzerland 7-0 and 8-1 in exhibition play prior to the tournament.

Thoughts: Mallory was tied for 9th in the NCAA's for freshman scoring, which helped land her on the WCHA All-Rookie Team. Off the ice, she is working toward obtaining her private pilot's license and is a black belt in karate.

4 Badgers make Canada's U-22 selection camp

Team USA's U-22 team is set (including Erika Lawler, Hilary Knight, and Meghan Duggan, just in case you forgot), but Canada is still selecting their team. 5 Badgers attended Canada's strength and conditioning/skating camp that took place in May, and 4 of them will now attend the U-22 Selection Camp that runs Aug 12-19. Defenseman Brittany Haverstock and fowards Mallory Deluce, Jasmine Giles, and Carolyne Prévost have made the 40-player selection camp roster.

The US and Canadian U-22 teams will play a 3-game series Aug 20-23.

Several Badgers earn Canadian U-22 camp spots

I recently posted regarding Team USA's U-22 summer camp, but I neglected to post about Team Canada's U-22 camp when it was announced on May 9. Several current and future Badgers will be among the 51 players participating in the strength and conditioning/skating camp that will take place May 28-31.
