McBain WCHA Offensive Player of the Week

Photo from the Daily Cardinal

All-American Candidate McBain has been named the WCHA Offensive Player of the Week for his two goal, two assist effort against UAA last week. Based on radio coverage, McBain dominated the Seawolves.

As Todd points out, McBain leads the WCHA in scoring, and the nation in scoring by defensemen. Impressive!

Andy Baggot also chimes in that the history of the WCHA Wisconsin has only ever had two players lead the WCHA in scoring, and it occurred during the same season. In 77-78 Mike Eaves and Mark Johnson shared the title.

Can the All-American Candidate do the same? 12 games remain to answer this question, but w/ Brendan Smith on the shelf awhile longer, Jamie's production on the PP is even more important, hopefully leading Wisconsin to great things along the way.

Edit: Listening to 1310 WIBA, the home of Badger Hockey here in Madison, this morning, both Mike Eaves and Shane Connelley added their thoughts about Jamie McBain. Connelley compared Jamie's season to that of Championship Season Tom Gilbert, as Shane saw first hand as a freshman the greatest of the All-American. That is high praise indeed. Coach Eaves thinks that Jamie should be considered for the Hobey Baker, and is definately All-American material. I couldn't agree more Coach Eaves.
