Cody Goloubef, Canada, Win GOLD

Surprise, surprise, Team Canada won the gold medal at the 2009 IIHF U-20 World Junior Championship. Canada dominated most of the game and won by a decisive 5-1 score, although they scored 2 empty netters.

Wisconsin defenseman Cody Goloubef finished the tournament with 1 assist and 8 PIM. What a great experience for Goloubef to play under the pressure of a tournament like this and win gold on home soil. He will no doubt be tired next weekend in Anchorage but it will be great to have him and Ryan McDonagh back. While they were gone Little, Johnson and Springer didn't play great but the extra experience all 5 of them gained whether they were in the World Juniors or getting extra ice time at Wisconsin will no doubt help out the Badgers in the future. Congrats to Cody and Team Canada.

EDIT: I hope Chuck doesn't mind my popping in here to add a couple of links: Box, IIHF recap. I'd also like to point out that Cody was 2nd on Team Canada and 2nd among all skaters with a +/- of +10. -- 60
