Around the WCHA Jan 9 & 10

Non-conference games are basically over and its time for teams to make the push for the MacNaughton, home ice in the 1st round or respectability, whichever is the case. Here is a look at last week:

Duluth took 2nd at the Shillelagh Tournament, beating UMASS-Lowell and losing to Notre Dame
Denver took 2nd at the Denver Cup, tied Holy Cross (won in shutout) and lost to Boston U
minnesota won the Dodge Holiday Classic beating Brown and Northeastern
North Dakota swept Bemidji State
Wisconsin…well we know what happened there

Here are the standings heading into the 2nd half.

Wisconsin @ UAA – The Badgers take 3 pts, Goloubef and McDonagh make the difference
minnesota @ North Dakota – split (though I’m cheering for Sioux)
Michigan Tech @ Denver – Denver sweep, the 1,000 fan march will make all the difference
Mankato @ CC – Split
Duluth @ St. Cloud – another split in the battle of the dogs
