Minnesotans Draft Eligible Scouting Report

www.mvn.com has short scouting reports on all draft eligible Minnesotans for the upcoming 2008 NHL Draft. This includes future Badgers Jake Gardiner, Tyler Barnes, Jordy Murray and Derek Stepan.

#23 Jake Gardiner - Defenseman - 6′.05″ 170lbs - Minnetonka HS - Shoots Right
Jake Gardiner had a strong season for the Skippers but was unable to lead his team to the state tournament. While he is considered to be a talented blueliner, some scouts are concerned over some of the mistakes he makes in his own end as he does not always seem to learn from them.

#58 Derek Stepan - Center - 6′0″ 168lbs - Shattuck-St. Mary’s HS - Shoots Right
The Hastings, Minnesota native is a dynamic scorer for the premier hockey prep school in the United States. He will be showcasing his tremendous vision and finishing ability with the Wisconsin Badgers next season. Stepan is just one of the many players in what is a very strong class of likely draftees from Shattuck-St.Mary’s.

#114 Tyler Barnes - Right Wing - 5′11″ 166lbs - Burnsville HS - Shoots Right
Tyler Barnes has a great trend of scoring clutch goals for the teams he plays for. While maybe not as physically gifted, he is a player who knows how to finish in the big game moments.

And by far the most detailed of them all:

#173 Jordan Murray - Left Wing - 5′8″ 162lbs - Shattuck-St.Mary’s HS - Shoots Left

They couldn't find anything else to say about young Jordy??? I really like the comments about Derek and Tyler. I'm sure I'll do some scouting of Tyler in the USHL next season.
