I meant to get to this earlier but things have come up this week and you're getting it now. Not as extensive as I would have liked but it will do the job.
This weekend some of the best hockey players in the mid-west will make the trek to Fond du Lac, Wisconsin to compete in the Tier 1 Central District Championships.
Team Wisconsin has won the right to represent the state of Wisconsin at the U-16 level by winning the Wisconsin State tournament, sweeping the Madison Capitols in two games last weekend.
The U-16 competition kicks off on Friday morning when Team Wisconsin takes on Russel Stover. Team Wisconsin will take on Team Illinois on Saturday morning and the St. Louis Blues on Sunday morning.
Team Wisconsin Forwards are led by Hudson's Ryan Dau, Middleton's Todd Koritzinksy, and Wausau West's Garrett Clemmente. Monona Grove's Trevor Okeson, Eau Claire Memorial's Alex Dahl, and Beaver Dam's Nick Szopinski are also very talented. On defense they have two very good prospects that I love with Brookfield's Matthew Fosdick and Green Bay Notre Dame Academy's Tim Davison.
TW's biggest competition for the title is most likely going to come from Team Illinois. TI features a talented trio of 1994 born forwards led by Tyler Pham who is already committed to Denver. The other two are the top two scorers on the team Alex Roos and Jack Rowe. Roos is also considered a solid college prospect.
The Milwaukee Jr. Admirals won the right to represent the Badger state at the U18 level by going undefeated last weekend at the U18 state tournament at Cap Ice in Madison.
The Jr. Admirals are led offensively by Noah Nelson. Nelson, a relative unknown coming into the season has performed nicely for the Jr. Admirals averaging over a point per game. Defensively the name you need to look at is Jarrod Rabey. Rabey was drafted in last springs USHL draft by the Indiana Ice and spent some time there this season. Rabey was huge (literally and figuratively) for the Jr. Admirals at the State Tournament. Rabey had 3 goals from the blueline last weekend and had a 3 point game in the championship vs the Madison Capitols.
The Jr. Admirals play at 11:30 AM Friday, 11:15 AM Saturday, and 9:45 am Sunday.
