Great news Badger fans. Wisconsin captain Blake Geoffrion is on the bus right now heading to the land of Prince and is ready to play in this weekends upcoming series with the Minnesota golden chokers.
Blake was injured two weekends ago when he took a check to the head from St. Cloud State forward Aaron Marvin. The WCHA came down hard on Marvin and after an appeal, he ended up with a 3 game suspension from the league. Geoffrion was not able to play last weekend when he was still feeling the affects of his concussion. The Badgers took care of business any ways, sweeping the Huskies 5-2, 5-2.
One of the biggest story lines of the weekend is Geoffrions potential to win the league scoring race. He currently leads all WCHA players in scoring with 33 points in 23 games. It's incredible that Geoffrion is still leading the scoring race when he has played three less games than the other top forwards due to injuries this season.
Senior forward Michael Davies also has a shot at winning the race. He currently sits at 30 points, 3 points behind Geoffrion. Sophomore forward Derek Stepan and Junior defenseman Brendan Smith both sit at the 29 point plateau in conference play.
