Brett Bennett and the Indiana Ice defeated Jefferson Dahl, Sean Little, and the Green Bay Gamblers last night by a score of 5-3. Last nights win for the Indiana wrapped up the best of 5 series 3-1 in favor of the Ice.
Bennett had 21 saves on 24 shots and also recorded an assist on the empty net goal. Sean Little was held off the score sheet and Jefferson Dahl was scratched for reasons un-known at this point.
The Indiana Ice will now take on the Fargo Force, who earlier in the week knocked off Lincoln, in the Clark Cup finals (Schedule to be released today). Wisconsin is represented well on the Fargo squad. 2010 forward recruit Gavin Hartzog has been good playoffs so far registering a goal and two assists in 5 playoff games. Hartzog had 10 points in 53 regular season games. Nate Condon, a Wausau native and Minnesota recruit, also plays for the Force.
It's no surprise that Indiana and Fargo are in the finals. Each squad features arguably either the best, or second best goaltender in the league with Mike Lee (Fargo) and Brett Bennett (Indiana). Playoff hockey has always been about containing your end first, and then focusing on transitioning to the offensive side.
