Wednsday Link Central

Apple Valley junior forward AJ Michaelson (pictured) who at one point last summer admitted in an interview that Wisconsin was his #1 at that stage has committed to Minnesota per the Minnesota Hockey Hub.

Many in the business are speculating that while Michaelsons interest towards Wisconsin was semi-genuine, that he may have noted Wisconsin as his current leader in that article this summer to alert the powers that be at his true school of choice, Minnesota, that they needed to step up to the plate.

Michaelson will be a good WCHA player an we would have loved to have him, but his heart is at Minnesota, can't fault a kid for that.

According to Denver post writer Mike Chambers, Jesse Martin, the Denver player who suffered fractures in the C2 vertebrae in his neck had successful surgery on Monday.

According to his father, the surgery should give Jesse full range of motion in his neck and the ability to lead a great life. However, sadly, it looks as if his hockey career may be over.

The article mentions that he had some trauma in the spinal cord which is limiting the range of motion in some areas.
Still keeping our thoughts and prayers with the Martin family and the DU community.

Andy Baggot features Podge Turnbull in this weeks "Five good minutes." Podge talks about a lot of things including how he got the name Podge. Good read.

More from Baggot, big week for him. He has another nice piece up about Eaves flying out to Toronto yesterday for the "summit" between the elite college coaches and the NHL. He later updated that Eaves flight was cancelled so he couldn't make it. Tough break, I would have liked to see Eaves comments from the conference.

Former Badger Ryan Suter, who has been out with an undisclosed injury is getting frustrated. It sounds like he could possibly be back this weekend but that is probably a long shot. Hopefully he can get healthy soon.

Tyler Buckentine from USCHO.com has a nice feature today on the Wisconsin goaltenders. Wisconsin is one of the rare teams in the country right now that have two true #1 goaltenders playing at a very high level.
