It's Friday, I'm in Love

You can never get enough
Enough of this stuff
It's Friday, I'm in love

BADGER MEN v minnesota-duluth: FRI / SAT 7PM
We want to fix our mistakes. There are a lot of things we did wrong. - Craig Smith [Baggot]

Anytime you're playing the number one team in the nation you get the chance to come out and make a statement, especially after last week. We weren't happy with our efforts, but this weekend we'll see a different team out there for us. - Podge Turnbull [Evans]

That’s the whole message the whole week, we need to compete before we do anything else. - Mike Eaves

[UMD is] way different than NoDak also; they’re more skilled, but we don’t think they work as hard. We watched a lot of video on them this week, and we broke down their game. If we outwork them — which is what we plan to do — and get after their D and get after their smaller forwards. We match up good against these guys. - Jordy Murray

[We did] a lot of hard work in practice this week, doing battle drills, getting dirty in the areas near the net and by the crease. - Michael Mersch [Holt]

The screwing of the pooch begins [tonight]. - ExileOnDaytonStreet

UW: 3-3-2 WCHA, 6-4-2 overall (last weekend v. 0-1, 2-4 v. und)
umd: 6-1-1 WCHA, 9-1-2 overall (last weekend 5-3, 4-2 v. mtu)

Weekly Shooutout Winner
This week, JORDY MURRAY won the shootout. (Glad to have you back Jordy, we missed you last week.)

Previous Winners:
11/11 Justin Schultz
11/04 Scott Gudmandson
10/28 Ryan Little
10/21 Jefferson Dahl
10/14 Keegan Meuer

(Thanks again to Paul Capobianco.)

Badger
Lines
Baggot mentioned some line changes this week, so here's what things should look like tonight.
Jordy Murray - Mark Zengerle - Tyler Barnes
Patrick Johnson - Sean Dolan - Ryan Little
Michael Mersch - Craig Smith - Derek Lee
Jason Clark - Jefferson Dahl - Sean Little

Jake Gardiner - Justin Schultz
Craig Johnson - John Ramage

Eric Springer - Frankie Simonelli

Scott Gudumandson (8 GP, .928 SV%, 2.12 GAA)
Brett Bennett (4 GP, .940S V%, 1.47 GAA)
Jordy Murray is back, and so Keegan Meuer is out. Podge Turnbull is also out, with Sean Little making his Badger debut. Per Baggot, Eaves said he earned a spot with his effort level in practice and competitive nature.

On the top line, 1st-Star Zengerle has been moved from right wing to center, and the move makes a lot of sense. I'm looking forward to seeing him at C, and I'm also looking forward to seeing Barnes get a shot on that line. Smith will now be centering a line with Mersch and Lee, and his presence improves the look of that line, should be fun.

Gavin Hartzog is out with an ankle injury.

On D, Joe Faust is out (sorry, Ma60) and Eric Springer is back in. In goal, Scott Gudmandson gets the nod on Friday, and as usual we'll have to wait to see on Saturday.

Mike Connolly - Jack Connolly - Justin Fontaine
Kyle Schmidt - Travis Oleksuk - J.T. Brown
Dan DeLisle - Keegan Flaherty - Mike Seidel
Joe Basaraba - Jake Hendrickson - David Grun

Mike Montgomery - Drew Olson
Wade Bergman - Brady Lamb
Dylan Olsen - Justin Faulk

Aaron Crandall (5 GP, .920 SV%, 1.78 GAA)
Kenny Reiter (7 GP, .899 SV%, 2.50 GAA)
Looks like Crandall and Reiter have been splitting time as of the 3rd series of the seaon, with each playing one game per series. FWIW, Reiter's stats are skewed by a horrible outing v. Lake State.

(See, Hatchet Joe, I told you Crandall plays for the dogs, I don't know why you never believe me. For those who don't follow recruiting (Hi, Ma!), Crandall was originally a Badger recruit but there were concerns about his development. Long story short, he ended up in Duluth.)

(Another note to Ma60 - I don't want you to waste your time trying to catch a glimpse of Badger alum Steve Rohlik, as he's no longer an assistant at duluth - you'll have to catch an Ohio State game to see him.)
