Ryan McDonagh named to Team USA

USA Hockey has announced the roster for the U-20 World Junior Championships that will be held December 26th through January 5th in Ottawa. Wisconsin Sophomore defenseman Ryan McDonagh has made Team USA. Last season, McDonagh was surprisingly passed over for the team USA and they failed to Medal. Big things are expected of Team USA this season. They decided to go with a veteran defensive stable choosing all defenseman who are in their last season of eligibility.

McDonagh will miss the Badger Hockey Showcase for sure, and if Team USA finds it's way to the medal round, will miss the home series versus Northern Michigan as well.

Here is a list of other NCAA players that were selected:

Minnesota-Cade Fairchild, Mike Hoeffel, Jordan Schroeder
Notre Dame-Ian Cole, Teddy Ruth
New Hampshire-Blake Kessel (Madison), James van Riemsdyk
Wisconsin-Ryan McDonagh
Boston University-Kevin Shattenkirk, Colin Wilson
Boston College-Jimmy Hayes
Michigan-Aaron Palushaj, Matt Rust
