The women's hockey program at Wisconsin is far from my specialty but I have no choice but to tip my cap to Mark Johnson and the ladies on a job well done. Friday night with a 7-1 victory over Bemidji State the Badgers clinched the WCHA regular season title.
The regular season title is the third in program history and the first since the 2007 hockey season. The Badgers won it back to back in 2006 and 2007 according to the Badgers official site.
The Wisconsin women have been phenomenal this season and have carried the #1 ranking for most of the year. The trio of Meghan Duggan, Hilary Knight (pictured), and Brianna Decker pose a threat that's been virtually unstoppable this season. The Badger trio ranks second, third, and fourth respectively in scoring behind only Mercyhurst's Meghan Agosta.
The Badger women have two weeks of regular season action left before they start the playoffs. Next weekend they host North Dakota and the high scoring Lamoureux twins and wrap up their regular season on the road at Minnesota State, Mankato.
