The Wisconsin Badger hockey team lost a key member this week when equipment manager Steve Castelletti moved on to become the equipment manager of the Peoria Rivermen, the AHL affiliate of the St. Louis Blues. The Badger Men's hockey twitter broke the story.

USA Hockey will announce it's roster for the evaluation camp it holds every summer in Lake Placid on Monday. The camp is one of the main factors USA Hockey uses to select the players that are going to represent the red, white, and blue for the U20 World Junior Championships. Expect Wisconsin defenseman Jake Gardiner and forward Derek Stepan to be named to the camp. I also expect both of them to make this years squad.

Wisconsin again led the nation in attendance for 2008-2009. They averaged 13,785 people per game. Thats good for an average capacity of 90.5% which isn't bad in that huge building. The WCHA held down the top 3 spots and 6 of the top 10. Nebraska-Omaha, which seems like a lock to join the WCHA, was 6th in overall attendance.

The architects have been selected for the new hockey facility on campus. The location has also been altered due to the ego's of Herb Kohl and Ab Nicholas. From the article, "It appears the hockey facility will replace the parking lot at the west end of the Nicholas-Johnson Pavilion, running perpendicular to the basketball practice area." Thanks to nubeetle for the link.

Minnesota still sucks.

Hockey In Wisconsin has a post up about the potential players for Team Wisconsin. I think it's pretty accurate.

Janesville has settled on the Jets as the nickname for the new NAHL franchise. Should be a ton of Wisconsin natives playing for them this winter.
