-The Wisconsin men's official hockey twitter notes that Justin Schultz's 17 goals this season are the most goals scored by an NCAA defenseman since the 2002-03 season. Schultz has a legitimate chance to break the school record of goals scored by a defenseman which was set by Sean Hill with 19 during the 1990-91 season.

-It looks like Wisconsin women's coach Mark Johnson may have a men's team interested in his services. Johnson says he'll wait until after the season before speaking with Penn State.
-Blake Geoffrion scores his first career NHL goal last night versus the Edmonton Oilers. I've embedded the video at the end of this post. Former Badger Ryan Suter had the assist on the goal. Pretty strong family histories with those two players eh?
-Penn State took everyone by surprise when it was posted on the Chris Heisenberg recruiting site that they had landed their first two recruits in program history. The Nittany Lions picked up two players out of the EJHL, a goalie named Tim Carr and a centerman named Jake Friedman.
You would think Penn State would have at least waited to have a coach in place before they started recruiting but apparently they wanted to jump start the process. It will be interesting to see them try and stagger their recruits so they don't have 24 freshmen in 2012 when the program will play its first game.
-Daily Cardinal editor Ryan Evans noted that speaking after practice Tuesday head coach Mike Eaves noted that he planned on playing both goaltenders this weekend. Brett Bennett is set to start on Friday night and Scott Gudmandson on Saturday.
