Ugh...

Well, that was ugly.

Not to take any credit away from BC. They had an excellent game plan, and they executed it to literal perfection. They used their speed to get in our way, to avoid taking penalties and they kept UW on their heels for much of the game. They dismantled the best team of the regular season on Thursday, and they completely oblider-raped one of the most fluid passing and skating teams in the nation tonight. I've made no secret of my admiration for Jerry York in the USCHO forums, and I'll repeat those sentiments here. He's a top notch coach who never fails to get what he wants out of his team. Well done, Boston College. That trophy was yours since the puck dropped.

As for the Badgers... I'd almost rather not say much about them. Their play was listless (I took note of the lack of moving legs I saw for much of the game, especially after the third BC goal), and not very indicative of what a great season they had this year.

These are still young adults, after all, and while they get scholarship money and great opportunities for the next level of hockey, they don't deserve for me to pile on them for how tonight's game went. Many of them played their last games in the Red and White tonight, and they all deserve our appreciation for what they've done representing our University. One can only hope that the returning players can use tonight's game as motivation to come back and finish the job. Here's hoping we don't have to rebuild for three seasons before it happens.

Thank you, Badger Seniors (and soon-to-be early departures), best of luck to you.

Here's to next year.
